Humans choose to sin from the beginning and walked away from God, which separated us from God (the story of Adam and Eve). God wanted us free from sin (God is sinless and does not like sin).

Jesus crucifixion sacrifice was symbolism of forgiveness for the sins of humans. It is the greatest symbols of sacrifice and love, God sent his son Jesus to die to provide the option for humans to be free of sin and have a relationship with him again.

His death and being raised from the dead symbolizes to us that he is able to give us eternal life (original plan with Adam and Eve).

Due to the crucifixion we can be free of sin, have a relationship with God and join God in heaven (eternal life).
